lilac cable mittens

i decided to make mittens, the book i chose to get them from was vogue knitting mittens a brilliant book that caters for all knitting levels, intermediate and challenging. the mitten that i am making has a challenging skill level and i have just finished the first one knitted in one of my favourite wools Jameson and smith 2ply jumper weight.

the mittens are going well but they are complex but i am enjoying this, and i have just cast on the 2nd mitten im not sure who's they will become but i am looking forward to seeing the finished result.

uni shawl and my new amazing knitting bag

for uni i am making a shawl out of one of the best wools i have found in a long time, berger de france natura in colour malva. The wool is knitting up beautifully and i am very happy but to carry it around i am using my new amazing personalised claiereabella jute bag that i am now using as my knitting bag.

uni sock

My socks for uni this year are going to be great they are all sublime merino chunky that i got in the sale and most of the pairs are going to be knee high's and these are going very well even though i had to make the pattern myself. using one of my fave new techniques of dropping two stitches and picking them up as one big stitch this creates wonderful panel lines along pieces of knit like this.

cameo gloves

my new found mitten love has meant that even with as little time i have free at the moment i cast on these very complex gloves, the pattern from interweave press in the special magazine jane Austin special knits. the knit is going well and i love the mittens already even though i made 2 mistakes on the first mitten.

honeycomb blanket

the bee keepers quilt a really lovely idea and pattern from ralvery that i downloaded. the make is quick but boring but it is a great use of my left over 4ply sock wool currently i have made 16 and to finish the quilt i need to make over 300. my first quilt i made was a collection of squares that spanned ten years.
